Historical Notes About
Città della Pieve is a picturesque hilltop town in Umbria, known for its medieval charm and Renaissance art. Founded by the Etruscans, it later became a Roman settlement. During the Middle Ages, it grew in importance due to its strategic position between Perugia, Orvieto, and Chiusi.
In the 13th century, it gained autonomy as a free commune and was later contested between Perugia and the Papal States. The town is famously the birthplace of Pietro Vannucci, known as Perugino (1446–1523), a master Renaissance painter and teacher of Raphael.

The property is located a few meters from Panicale, a small town which lies on a hill at the foot of Mount Petrarvella and overlooks Lake Trasimeno.
